About the event
This event will be held on Wednesday 23rd October, 9-10am in Room O, Portcullis House and is being hosted by Dr Jeevun Sandher MP on behalf of the Network for New Economic Thinking. The briefing will be delivered by Dr Howard Reed, Director of Landman Economics and formerly of IPPR and the IFS; and Dr Elliott Johnson, Senior Research Fellow in Public Policy at Northumbria University.
There has been much discussion inside and outside Parliament about the state of the public finances and how to deliver much-needed infrastructure improvements and restore our public services. Howard and Elliott will make the case for increased public investment and day-to-day spending, taking us through how the Treasury, the Office for Budget Responsibility and the Institute for Fiscal Studies project economic impacts and how projections can be used to support good, responsible economic policymaking. There will be time for questions.
